Villager Crafts

WHY VILLAGER CRAFTS

One of the main reasons the villagers are impoverished is due to lack of capital. Without capital, they cannot start income sustaining projects that would therefore help them to begin the climb out of poverty.

Over the past few decades, "we" have thrown money at the poverty problem rather than helping the impoverished to help themselves. This scenario has created a welfare mindset that must be broken first and foremost. Giving handouts is not helping the impoverished to help themselves, but rather, it is actually encouraging them to become beggars and therefore reinforcing the poverty lifestyle.

For this reason, Impact has introduced a six-month program designed to break the chains of poverty, and set them on the course to a healthier and more hope-filled life.  Small groups are formed of between 6 to 10 people that meet together weekly to grow and strengthen their faith, relationships, and knowledge of how to establish sustainable income producing projects.

The small groups are making crafts throughout the 6 month course in order to generate capital needed to start their own income sustaining projects. Once the groups have finished the course, they are then ready and prepared to receive the funding they helped to generate. The villagers realize that the crafts are not the ultimate goal, but rather, just a catalyst to generate capital necessary to begin the process of breaking the chains of poverty.

BENEFITS OF THE PROJECT

As the villagers gain hope and confidence, they are then more inclined to participate in empowering themselves, their neighbor, and the community as a whole.
